Chelsea and Susie (We are not Martha) organized a dinner to welcome Erica (Itzy's Kitchen) back to Boston while was in town visiting family.
Susie and Chelsea arranged for a tasting of some of the Vlora appetizers.
We started with some rolls and olive oil:
One of Vlora's signature dishes is this watermelon/feta combo with balsamic drizzled on top.
These phyllo triangles are one of their most popular appetizers. Each pastry pocket is stuffed with different fillings: Spinach & feta, tomato & onion, and yogurt.
Arancini Siciliani with tomato sauce
Here is my plate with a little smattering of our samples - from the fork: Grilled zucchini and tzatziki, grilled octopus with cucumber (and tomato), arancini, and watermelon with feta
My favorites of the night were definitely these two: The watermelon and feta, and the phyllo triangle. The watermelon was super refreshing, and the contrast of the salty feta was great. The tomato filling in the phyllo dough was rich and savory - tasted like a sauce cooked all day!
Megan (Travel Eat Love) and Bridget (Yogurt and Berries) both had the Vegetarian Moussaka: a layered medley of eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, potato, Swiss cheese, tomato, served with garlic yogurt and cucumber sauce. I stole a bite in addition to the picture. It was delicious, and I loved the presentation.
As usual I had a blast with all of the Boston bloggers and guests!
the other bloggers in attendance were :
Colleen of The Daily Craic
Elizabeth of On Tap For Today
Meghan of Travel Eat Love
Bridget of Yogurt and Berries
Naomi of One Fit Foodie
Thanks Chelsea and Susie for organizing...And Vlora for hosting, the food was great - definitely a hidden gem. I can't wait to come back for another meal!
