Snow Day!

CT was pummeled with snow last night!  We got about a foot and a half on our front walk.  Needless to say, Rafe and I both worked from home today.  After our respective workdays came to a close, Rafe took care of this:

While I got to work with this:

No more store bought bread for a while.  And no, I do not put pickle juice in my bread.....I bought a TON of yeast at King Arthur and its just more convenient to keep it in an empty pickle jar in the freezer.
Stay warm everyone!  I'm braving the elements to go to our neighbor's house for a carnitas dinner..! woot!

  2. The pickle jar is a splendid idea. I just took out my yeast to make some pizza dough, and it's spilling all inside the bag I slipped it into.

Carnitas sounds great! Have a fun dinner!

  4. HAHAHA, the first thing I thought of when I saw your picture was, "what is she doing with pickle juice?" Glad to hear it was just yeast and also glad to hear you had a great snow day!

  6. My yeast is always spilling out of the package that it came in. I am totally pouring it into an old jar today. Brilliant!
